Lab Diamond Sourcing

Round Lab-Grown Diamonds for Wholesale Jewelry Buyers

Round stones are commonly requested for center stones, bridal programs, studs and repeatable core collections. A useful B2B request goes beyond carat weight and states the visual and production requirements that affect the final piece.

Specify more than the carat range

Round brilliant laboratory-grown diamonds can carry the same nominal weight while showing different measurements, proportions and face-up appearance. A procurement brief should state whether the priority is diameter, weight, cut information, a certificate threshold, or a repeatable specification for future replenishment. For calibrated earrings or multi-stone layouts, millimeter control may be more useful than a broad carat label. When the stone will be set into an existing mounting, provide the seat or setting constraints so options can be screened before quotation.

Check the document and the physical stone together

For a certified round stone, the report number, measurements, weight and grading information should be checked against the available stone record. An inscription review can connect the physical item with the report when an inscription is present and can be captured clearly. Video and still media help assess face-up appearance, but media does not replace a physical verification of weight and dimensions. Growth method and any disclosed post-growth treatment should also travel with the sourcing record rather than being inferred from appearance.

Plan matching and replenishment

A pair of round stones should be matched for diameter, weight relationship, color, clarity and visual pattern according to the setting. For a repeat style, record which tolerances are essential and which can vary without affecting the product. A request for recurring supply should not assume that the same certificate or exact stone remains available. Each replenishment needs a current availability and specification check. The quotation then confirms the supplied option, quantity, commercial terms and any production coordination needed for the jewelry.

Round sourcing questions

Can round stones be sourced by diameter?

Yes. Include the required millimeter range and setting context. Availability and tolerance are confirmed in the quotation.

Do all round stones have an IGI report?

No. State the certificate requirement in the request. The specific report and stone must be verified for the selected option.

How are round pairs matched?

Pairs can be compared for diameter, weight, color, clarity, proportions and visual consistency based on the intended setting.
