Lab-Grown Diamond Melee for Jewelry Production
Prepare calibrated laboratory-grown diamond melee requirements around measurable parcel specifications and the intended production use.
Send a Melee Requirement
Define millimeter or sieve range
Choose one size basis and state the accepted range or sieve reference. Millimeter values should not be entered as carat values. Calibration tolerance matters because seat and layout consistency depend on physical size.
Count or total carat weight
State whether the buying unit is a stone count, total carat weight or a production quantity tied to a specific design. Include any allowance required for setting loss or QC replacement in the commercial request rather than assuming it.
Color, clarity and cut consistency
Use a realistic color and clarity range for the intended product. Also define the face-up consistency, roundness or outline expectation and how mixed appearances will be handled during inspection.
CVD, HPHT and individual reports
A buyer may state a CVD, HPHT or no-preference requirement. Small melee is not automatically supplied with an individual grading report for every stone. The report or parcel-document requirement must be confirmed for the actual order.
How to specify 3mm lab-grown diamond melee
State 3.0 mm as the target physical size, include the accepted tolerance, color and clarity range, count or total carat, growth preference and intended pavé, halo, band or bracelet use. Add the setting-seat requirement if the design is already fixed.
How to request DEF VS lab-grown diamond melee
Define whether DEF and VS are strict parcel ranges or target ranges with an accepted distribution. Add the millimeter or sieve range, cut-consistency requirement, quantity basis, intended jewelry use and any documentation requirement.
Common melee sourcing errors
Avoid mixing millimeter and carat units, omitting the size tolerance, requesting a broad parcel without a production use, or assuming every stone has an individual report. These gaps can create a parcel that cannot be used consistently in production.
Buyer questions
Does 3mm describe carat weight?
No. It is a physical diameter target. The actual weight depends on the stone's proportions and should be recorded separately when needed.
Can melee be calibrated for an existing CAD?
Yes. Provide the seat dimensions, intended use and accepted tolerance so the parcel can be reviewed against the production requirement.
